I have not been exposed to any radiation. It actually came from a previous diagnosis, or perhaps a mis diagnosis (?) of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) a blood disorder that has some of the same symptoms and the potential to go into a form of leukemia if it is not treated or incorrectly treated.
So I’m considering dating a leukemia survivor. She’s 25, and the diagnosis and treatment occurred between 03 and 05. She seems like a wonderful person, and I’m excited about meeting her. My experience around cancer survivors is limited, and I’m trying to educate myself as much as possible. Is there anything I should know about being involved with such a person? How could I be a good bf to a cancer survivor? Any resources?

My mom was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Ever since her diagnosis, she’s been extremely depressed. She’s having trouble paying the bills and does nothing but work and then come home to rest. The leukemia seems to have sucked all of the life out of her and I don’t know how I can help her out any. I love her to death and I would love any suggestions that I could do to make her feel better.
According to a recent article : Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in the United States, causing more deaths each year than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. At the same time, people seem to view the disease differently.
"When you look at National Institutes of Health research dollars spent per diagnosis and per patient death, lung cancer is woefully below breast cancer and AIDS," he added.
"Historically, lung cancer has been stigmatized," explained Dr. Corey Langer, medical director of thoracic oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, in Philadelphia. "It’s viewed as a self-inflected illness and, at least partially, it is."
